Automatic Watering Sytem Overview

The Eco Garden Automatic Watering System allows gardens to flourish even when left unattended for periods of time. The Automatic Water System tracks soil moisture and will pump water from the reservoir below the garden to the top. The hoses along the top spray the water onto the base of the growing plants. If liquid or dissolvable fertilizer is added to the water reservoir, it will also be brought to the plants to replenish soil nutrients.

System Parts
Pump
A 12 volt, 200 gallons per hour submersible pump will push water from the reservoir to the plants on the surface. The pump is placed slightly off the bottom of the tank.

Float Switch
A float switch is installed next to the pump so the pump will not run if there is not enough water. The switch is placed in a plastic tube that is attached to the side.

Filter Bag
A filter bag is placed around the pump and float switch to filter out dirt and other debris.

Battery
A 12 volt 5 amp hour battery will supply power to the pump and controller.

Solar Panel
A small solar panel will recharge the battery.

Soil Moisture Sensor
A sensor is placed in the soil to measure the moisture. The watering system will run when the garden is dry.

Controller Board and Firmware
A specially designed controller board and firmware reads the soil moisture sensor and turns on the pump as needed to keep the plants growing. The firmware will run the pump at least once every 24 hours to keep the water from becoming stagnant and bring fertilizer from the reservoir to the soil.

Power Supply (optional accessory)
An optional power supply can be purchased to use the automatic watering system indoors where sunlight can not re-charge the battery.
